Description

The outside swirl pattern will give the illusion of rotating 378° when the dial only move 1.8° (360°/200 steps). This is possible due to the interference of different number of windows and color notches in the base. The angle of the window let the new notch appear as a straight line but vanishes slowly in a spiral/swirl.

So the inner indicator will line up with the pattern every 10 steps. While the 20 color filled (filament change when printing or painted) windows from the base will indicate 10steps/20Windows  0.5 steps of your extruder.

Further the small indicator will show the Extruder position within turns.

E-Steps are around 100 steps/mm, But this are not the Full steps of your stepper.

  • A full turn with a 11mm sprocket is around 34mm.

  • This makes a full step around 0.2mm (0.17).

  • This Visualizer let you see 0.1mm extrusions.

  • Now you really see the vast amounts of plastic liquidized and squeezed into your print.

  • Mesmerizing!

You have 2 options:

  1.  Filament change or paint the markings - The file contain two objects rotor and base (and a small version number - that can be deleted or ignored)

  2. printing separate inlays - The file contain 3 objects ↦ rotor, base and inlay - for the rotor marking just insert a 5mm piece of filament. (this can also be done with MMU)

You need to print the rotor upside down, in case of using the inlay also the base.

You can combine the rotor from option 1 with the base and inlay  or visa versa.

Let me know if you need different shaft length for your magnets (can be change in the script).
