I found the idea of a USB plug protection appealing, but the designs were not easy to print or need sticky tape for fixing which, over time, might come off. So I decided to do my own design.
This design features:
Snap on assembly (no sticky tape needed)
- Cover for inserted SDCard
- Cover for USB plug
- Cover for a part of the cable. There you have 2 ways to route the cable. 1 is just out at about table height, the other is leading under the printer (which I am using since my octoprint pi is close and I want to put the access cable under the printer)
- Optional: SDCard and Micro-SDCard holder (there I just included DuDlik’s design https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1344572). This comes also with an optional lid.
- No support needed design for all models
- FreeCAD model included, if you want to do your own changes
Some further features are included in the zip file:
- Optional: A base which should reach to the tabletop and give additional stability (you might want to use a separate rubber base to reduce the vibration transmitted through the base to the table)
- Optional: Stiffner using frame screw to further stabilize the cover
