EDIT 2019/09/01: I believe that nylon and polypropylene is a material that can be used for the springs. Since not everyone is able to print nylon or PP on their printers, I have added a modular Cap (Pressdeckel) to this design that replaces the existing cap and can be used to clamp down spools to the bottom plate of the spool holder. It can be used with the springs or without. An aditional adapter (Spulenadapter) increases it's clamping range for it to work with very narrow spools as well.
EDIT 2019/07/08: I've encountered an issue with the springs. It turns out that PETG is not a well suited material for them as they soften up and then remain in the outstretched position. If someone knows of a material that remains springy in the temperature range up to 70°C, I'd be very happy to read from you so I can update this design. Until then I will label this design as a work-in-progress.
This is a spool holder for use in a repurposed food dehydrator of this type, sold in many places under many different names. It incorporates a thrust bearing of this type, however, I have added two files for a 3D printable bearing utilizing 6mm BB pellets or any other 6mm balls (Lager Boden und Deckplatte/Lager Käfig). I have now tested this printed bearing design with BB pellets and it works very well!
Assembly is very easy and quick, components simply slide in (Flexbogen), click in (Rotationsplatte/Spulenträger) or screw into place (Spulenträger/Spulensäule/Deckel). The finished spool holder spins very freely, looks nice and allows for the use of a spool for printing while in the filament dryer. The flexible springs self center the spool and make it possible for a wide variety of spools to all fit snugly onto the spool holder (Tested in PETG). Assembly of all parts is also entirely reversible.

If possible, print the springs in PETG to ensure that they are flexible enough. Avoid PLA for all parts due to its low temperature tolerance.
Be sure to have tuned your bridging settings well before printing these parts, they greatly depend on cleanly bridged segments.
All parts are oriented in their recommended printing orientation.
