Description
Want a great way to customize your Dreamcast without needing to mess with spray paint? Why not 3D-print yourself a custom lid! The lid itself, Dreamcast logo badge, and triangle piece are all separately printable so you can use any number of color combinations to make the Dreamcast your own!
These are the files available for download:
dreamcast-lid: The standard lid which works with the original logo badge or a custom printed one.
dreamcast-lid-dome-badge: A lid variation intended to be used with a round 1.5" sticker or dome badge in place of the original logo. Even more customization possible with this one!
dc-logo: The Dreamcast logo badge for the center of the lid.
dc-logo-blank: A blank logo badge which can be customized to your liking. Very easily done in something like 3D Builder if you're using Windows.
triangle: The triangle piece.
The lid is meant to be printed vertical with supports as shown here:
If using auto supports, it will most likely be generate them underneath the triangle, logo, and arch cutouts on the other side. These aren't needed and can be removed. You can also remove supports from the hinge holes, the latch hole (on the side), the tiny rectangular hole above the gear, and under the rounded corners on the bottom.
The triangle piece can be printed flat or upright but for the smoothest surface, I recommend printing it upright with supports under the arch as shown here:
If you have trouble fitting triangle piece into the slot on the lid, I recommend using some sandpaper on the front or back until it fits in snuggly.
If using the custom logo badge, printing in the highest quality is recommended. On standard quality, the lettering may not come out right.
