Description

This is based on the excellent work by ammaryasir https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4437420 for the Creality Ender 3 Pro, for some reason Thingiverse does not find the item in the remix option. Love this design not just for the clean look, but also for the compact size and weight which is fairly important for direct drive setups.

I have made changes to make it fit the Micro-Swiss Ender 3 direct drive hot end setup for my Ender 3 V2 since the original shroud does not fit the bracket. There are few other minor tweaks and optimizations I've done on top of the original AYF design. When mounting on an Ender 3 V2, extra screw will be needed for the second mount point. It is designed to fit the stock fans (just remove them from the original shroud) and mount on the new one. There are slots for the fan wires for an extremely clean and nice looking finish.

The optional BLT mount has offset of -40/-12 and is positioned very close to the hot-end cooling fan, if mounted with the connector on the inside, connector actually lays on the edge of the cooling fan. The BLT mount has a slot to accommodate vertical adjustment, but if laid with the connector resting on the fan, Z offset is around the -0.36 mark when using the the micro-swiss hot-end and nozzle. If you prefer more clearance between nozzle and bed when probe is operating, you can mount the BLT sensor with the cables on the outside, that will allow much broader adjustment (but ruins a bit the clean view). When printing the mount, the side laying on the bed should be the side that looks towards the shroud/fan (just add supports), this not only makes it look clean, but also makes it structurally sound and less prone to cracking and flexing.

The screen/cover part is optional and is just for the looks. If you are looking to save 3 grams of weight, you can run without it.

Print Settings

Printer Brand: Creality

Printer: Ender 3

Rafts: No

Supports: Yes

Resolution: 200

Infill: 20

Filament: ASA/ABS

Notes:

Recommended to print using high temp resistant filament like ASA or ABS since heating block is quite close to some parts. I have tried ASA and multi hour print at 275 deg C did not cause any deformation in the shroud. You'd want to add supports (tree support only touching build plate in Cura worked nice for me) with draft shield (and/or enclosure) if doing ASA/ABS. PETG may work and would be easier to print, but considering this shroud is to work with high temperature micro-swiss all-metal hot-end it may not be as sturdy at higher print temperatures. Lay flat on the back.

The front cover/screen and optional BLT mount could be safely printed in other, filament such as PETG or even PLA.
