Description
In my quest for a 1000mm/s hypercube I decided to give the orbiter extruder a go.
Also, I wanted to give direct drive another go. I tried a custom bmg extruder before, that went ok for a while but encountered a lot of clog ups, to the point I could no longer print reliably.
As I do a lot of printing with 3mm abs filament, I ordered the 2.85 blurolls extruder on aliexpress (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002728334581.html - tell them I sent you, maybe they put me on their sponsored list)
As I do not want to spend a ton of money on an expensive extruder - and the original HEVO uses a E3D - I wanted to stick to my E3D hotend. I did cough up the money for a "premium Volcano V6" block.
To my big surprise, there is no simple extruder mount for a hypercube - orbiter 2.85 - e3d combo. So, I downloaded the original assembly files for the hypercube evolution and modified the parts I needed.
Remarks:
Edit 27/12/2021: added a 1.75mm orbiter mount + retainer. Untested, since I only do 2.85mm filament...
Edit2 27/12/2021: I also added a first draft for some kind of fan duct. Volcano compatible only...
Edit3 27/12/2021: I also added a mount for my inductive probe. But that certainly interferes with the fan duct. But Z-probing is more critical than part cooling...
