Description

I designed this E3D mount for the Simax3D IronM1. The stock hotend works fine, but it's not all metal, and it's really loud. My initial design, was simpler, and worked well; until I started printing ABS. The air flow from the heatsink cooler was blowing at the build plate, and causing some warping of the ABS during the print. This design places the hotend out a little, but it incorporates an air duct that exhausts the air flow from the heatsink cooler out the left side and upwards. For part cooling, you will need to mount your preference.

This was designed with a specific cooler in mind, but most coolers that bolt to the fan mount of the E3D will work perfectly. Since I'm concerned about the left expectancy of Thingiverse at this point, I have attached the exact cooler I use here; it uses a 5015 blower fan, and the original design is available here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2469775 This was made by “graham01", and is their design, not mine. It's included here to simplify finding it, and because I worry it will vanish one day soon.

This will mount a standard E3D V6 hot end, and probably most clones. There are zip tie points for your wiring to keep it tidy.

Assembly requires 7 M3 x ~5mm heat set inserts. 3 on the back, and 4 on the front. The E3D fan mount is designed for self tapping screws just like the stock fan shroud.

Print it with ABS; PETG will work if you're only printing PLA. If you're printing ABS, print this in ABS. 4 perimeters, 4 top and bottom layers, 40% infill. I've included a screenshot for printing orientation, no supports required. You will want to lightly sand the mating surfaces of the parts until the E3D is held firmly. I recommend the sanding after you put in the heat set inserts.
