Description

This allows the reuse of an old Amiga A1010 external floppy drive by inserting a Gotek PCB. The fascia accepts a rotary encoder, 0.91" OLED display (hot glued in place), and relocation of the activity and 'power on' LEDs (3mm), also hot glued into place.

The selection push buttons only protrude from the fascia about 0.50mm but can still be used.

I added a fascia without the rotary encoder hole, I also moved the LED holes to the stock position above the two selection buttons.

The project consists of a PCB mounting tray and the fascia.

How I Designed This ===================

Solidworks 2015

Using no more than a cheap pair of digital calipers ($20), a steel rule, and SolidWorks 2015 to reverse engineer the stock front fascia. I did not include any draft angles that were present in the original injection molded fascia. In the future I may use a CMM to more accurately model the fascia.
The process involved 4 iterations of prints, each taking 3.5 to 4 hours to print.
