Description
Helps to amplify/redirect sound from phones with bottom-facing speakers.
Edit: Updating dB stuff with new measurements and correct maths
Increase is around 8-9dB for the intro to the song “Smokin'” by Boston played on my P20pro from approx. 1m away, phone speakers forwards (laying down), followed by cones forward.
This corresponds to around 6-8x the perceived volume at that distance where:volume_scale = 10^(dB/10) → [10^(8/10) to 10^(9/10)]x = [6.3 to 7.95]x
The slot is 78mm x 12mm, so make sure to measure and scale the print for your phone's size.
I have also added a small groove in the top which should allow the phone to balance in landscape mode, although no volume amplification/redirection will occur in this case.
You shouldn't need supports, but you could always use some below the ‘cones’ if your printer has trouble with bridging. Print shown is Duramic 3D PLA+.
(Ideally this will prevent me from having to carry my copy of One Night Ultimate Werewolf around the house to play music… https://www.printables.com/model/157850-one-night-ultimate-werewolf-expansions-boardgame-i)
