Hardwood flooring installation helping tools

Edit 05/09/2022: I'm adding a new version of the tapping block and leaving the old one in case someone prefers it. I've used the original V1 block for about 9 or 10 hours of hardwood floor installation and while it works quite well in function my wife was kind enough to point out what it needs is a handle so your spouse doesn't accidentally whack a finger. Not saying that happened but her exact words were something like you better have one with a handle tomorrow or else. So I used the same basic layout but well added a handle. It's printing right now in both ABS & PLA to test the strength of both of them. The PETG V1 never hiccupped once and doesn't even show any signs it was hit with a hammer a hundred times.

Update: Flooring install been done a couple weeks and commenting on the materials used. The ABS tapping block broke after maybe 50 square feet of installed flooring. The PLA one rocked it out for another 1100 square feet never missing a beat. This little block must have been hit 3000 times or more with a hammer and was still working like a champ right to the end.

I've recently started undertaking the addition of solid ¾" (~19mm) hardwood flooring in my home. Both of these items can be purchased and aren't terribly expensive but I wanted them a little more customized. 

First the tapping block, this is usually a long flat “universal” block for more than one thickness flooring. They are used for tapping rows of flooring together tightly before nailing. These are usually wide and thin and notorious for not seating correctly on the face of the board. So when tapped or hit with a hammer they can chip off the finished side of the floor or break the tongue off. My version is small and fitted to tap on both sides of the flooring around the tongue while being set back far enough to not hit the tongue. I printed mine with 5 perimeters/top/bottom and 40% infill out of PETG. I also printed it 100mm wide but it can be scaled to easily fit your needs.

The spacer blocks are remixed from kperkins1982 https://www.printables.com/model/68364-better-laminate-flooring-wall-spacer. I knew I wanted 3/8" (~9.5mm) spacers and used his fusion files (thanks SO much that sped it up) to make it the size I wanted and added a little handle to be able to yank them out. I printed these using the same PETG but with 2 perimeters/top/bottom and 10% infill. I plan to come back to these fairly soon and make some shims to compensate for out of square walls. So keep that in mind if you use these, they'll only line your planks up as square as your walls are.
