Clamp-on Dovetail Mount Barrel adaptor V2

Massive improvement upon my previous design. It wobbled a lot more than is ideal, and didn't stay as it should have. This does not wobble at all. Also requires half the number of nuts and bolts. My Barrel Mounted 9-11mm Dovetail rail clamp should work pretty well.

For mounting a dovetail attachment on a barrel. Either on the end of the barrel, or somewhere else on the barrel. I wanted to be able to mount an optic on the end of an air rifle's barrel as an experiment, this let me try that idea. It also worked a charm with a pistol scope. Most cheap break-barrel air rifles suffer from scope creep whenever you close the barrel, this allows me to avid that issue, since the scope is mounted on the barrel therefore should always point to the same place as the barrel itself.

Measure your barrel well before you print anything, so you definitely get the correct width for you. I didn't have callipers so printed out a sheet with round holes of varying sizes incrementing by .5mm each time to get the diameter. This is also a good idea since your printer is likely slightly out from actual distances, therefore this would give you a good idea of what you should be printing even if callipers tell you a good number. I've included the hole size measuring file I made, hole sizer.stl

*8x or 4x M3 x 18mm(or longer)* screws and bolts** required, depending on the model. Tightly wrapped zip/cable ties will maybe do the trick however.

Length of files "_long.stl" each is 100mm. If you need longer, stack them in cura and it should print perfectly. The rest of the files are 50mm.

The files marked "_end" are specifically for the end of the barrel and have a small piece on the end to block further travel down the barrel. In retrospect not that much point in these files.

I've included some of the CAD files in case it's of use. If you wanted to use this with a barrel width different to what I've provided, that would be the place to start.

It's annoying getting the rails perfectly straight, but no harder than mounting a rifle scope traditionally. I ended up using a spirit bubble level for this.

Printing tubes can produce a lot of stringing. Clean it up well before you attach it to anything.
