Description
NOTE: This is an imperfect solution - and I've since moved on and replaced my old XM3s. As such, I'm not able to improve this model any longer.
Feel free to remix the model - I'm happy to share my source tinkercad model if you reach out as well.
When I first got my Sony XM3s – absolutely loved them. Still do, but I used to too.
But, over the last few years, they've been getting a hell of a workout with the amount of remote calls, and the sliders broke.
This is a super common problem with the Sony XM3s. When I went out looking for replacement parts – the only places I saw them were on sony's website ($40 for authentic replacement parts, that will just have the same fundamental problem in a year or two) – or a 3d printed more beefy replacement parts set, for also $40.
So, I took that personally, and designed these instead.
They're not perfect. They're admittedly kinda hacky because I don't use a real cad program – but they DO get the job done.
Print in pairs (1x inside, 1x outside). This uses the same screws as the original, so don't lose em.
These are a smidge more girthy than the originals – but they should hopefully hold up a bit better. And if they don't, you can just print new ones (instead of paying forty dollars).
If these help you, please leave a like/comment. If you have questions, please feel free to ask.
I spent way too much time getting these things to work, so I likely will not be revisiting any time soon. If you want access to the original tinkercad models I built, just message me and we can figure something out (but only if you're releasing the mods for FREE)
