Infrared LED Mount for Prusa I3 MK2S

This is a mount for the little IR Illuminator modules you can buy from amazon/ebay/china etc. It's designed to clamp onto the frame of the Prusa I3 Mk2S, It may or may not fit other printers - feel free to remix it so it does!

I've cut a hole out to allow the heatsink free air - Not sure if it gets hot enough to deform PLA yet, so you might want to print in something a bit more heat resistant...

Post-Printing

Post-processing will mostly consist of sanding any tight areas for clearance - the board may or may not fit into the mount cleanly without easing the sides a little, and the mount & bracket may need some reworking.

I printed with Prusa's Optimal 0.15mm layer height in silver PLA, which seemed pretty close initially, but I had to go in and add ease the joints a little in the model, depending on the material used and your printer, the tolerances may still be too tight.

How I Designed This

I knocked this up over a day or so using Onshape, I started off with measurements of the module and started with the footprint, building up the sides, adding the cut-out for the heatsink, adding the extrusions & holes for the wires, then finally built up the bracket, mount and pin.

I've added some clearance around the mount and bracket interface, depending on the material printed and the accuracy of your printer, you may want need to do some sanding to make the joint work properly.

The pin was a bit of an afterthought, and probably isn't worth bothering with, but if you want to try it, go nuts - M3 screw and nut seems to do the trick.
