Mooney M20 GATS Jar Holder

Mooney aircraft have a fuel selector which has a control inside the aircraft to actuate the drain to check for contaminates. Without help or a large bucket, there is no way to drain the selector without dumping expensive avgas on the tarmac.

This clamp attaches to the nosegear door while you pull the control on the fuel selector. It is sized for the smaller 12oz gats Jar.  I highly suggest sumping the selector early in your preflight so you have ample opportunities to remember to remove the sample from the nosegear.   

The clamp I used is a 1 1/2 inch one from Harbor Freight. You will need a longer M4 screw and can reuse the nut from the clamp

I printed this with ABS and in order for it to not lift off the bed, I used a brim.

1/2023 - Updated new version which holds the jar closer up to the fuel drain.   On windy days the fuel sometimes was not getting caught by the original design.   

9/2025 - new version which is easier to print without supports.
