ZimaBoard 1U Rack Mount with optional SSD Mounting

Horizontal 1U Rackmount for ZimaBoard with support for between zero and two, 7mm high SSD.

If installing 2 x 7mm this will take the overall height over the 1U height (44.5mm) to around 51mm.

The rack mounting holes are designed for M6 bolts, but smaller bolts with large heads should also work.

Parts

• No SSD: Use original M3 bolts supplied with ZimaBoard
• 1 x SSD:  20mm M3 bolts
• 2 x SSD:  25mm M3 bolts

Printing

Suggest using PETG for its additional strength and better performance in hot environments that racks tend to be.

• Material: PETG Prusament Anthracite Grey
• Print Settings (PrusaSlicer): 0.20mm Quality, 15% Infill
• Supports: None
• Instructions: Print rack mount bracket and between zero and two drive shims.
  • Note: On the Prusa Mini, 2 x Drive shims can be printed on the built plate, but you need to set the skirt loops to zero, as otherwise, this would be outside the permitted print area.

Assembly

• Unscrew the bolts from the base of the Zimaboard.
• Remove lower most plexi plate. The remaining plexi plates are necessary to provide a flat surface that doesn't foul the drive.
• Drives can be left without screws as they are kept in place once installed. However, if you wish you can use M3 bolts through the side (8mm) of the drive shims or through the bottom (6mm) of the mount if you prefer (only for the lowest drive).
• Mount Zimaboard to your rack using your preferred mounting system. Note due to the thickness of the rack ears, you may require longer than usual bolts.
