Description
My 3018-pro router didn't come with an E-Stop switch. :(
I won't run a router without a mechanical stop switch, so I bought one from Sainsmart. This is the model I purchased: https://www.sainsmart.com/products/emergency-stop-switch-for-genmitsu-cnc-router-3018-prover-3018-mx3
There is no convenient way to mount it to my 3018-pro router. I designed a desktop housing that keeps it stable, and is heavy enough to hold itself nicely on the desk beside the router. The cables that come with the e-stop switch are ridiculously short (around 20 cm/8"). I soldered a 2-conductor male JST-SH terminated cable to a 2-conductor female JST-SH terminated cable, and am using that as an extension cable to plug the switch into the router controller e-stop location.
The plug has a 2-pin JST-SH male connector to plug into the female JST-SH receptacle on the CNC controller.
The E-stop switch is a panel-mount model, and is pressed through the hole and a nut is tightened from the bottom to secure it in place. The bottom of this desktop mount is open. The one thing that's not so great, this E-stop switch is quite small (23 mm / 0.9" diameter). The housing is printed upside-down with no support required.
