Description

Welcome to the Universal Chassis! This chassis was created to fit the needs of LCVT, a club dedicated to making custom lightsabers from scratch. All the more recently built sabers found on their website use this exact chassis. The main draw of this chassis is that it allows for one chassis to be printed for a range of hilt lengths and button locations. You can find specifics about this range in the guide for hilt design linked below. STEP files are included for those of you looking to support other hardware too!

This chassis functions off of the Button Retention System, where the chassis and button are locked into place by the button sliding into grooves in the chassis. The chassis is removed by sliding the chassis a short distance up the blade well, removing the button, then sliding the rest of the chassis out completely.

I recommend printing with a brim for the longer, thinner Secondary Chassis. The TCSS Blade Adapter and Button Well models could also use some supports. The rest of the models print without supports. The Button Collar has supports built into the model.

You'll need:

  • 1021-1 Keystone Battery Contacts
  • The Saber Armory 22mm Speaker
  • Proffieboard or Golden Harvest v3
  • TCSS Pogo Pin Connector Set (matching resistor for blade side)
  • 12mm AV Switch
  • Micro JST Connector for the Button
  • Sanyo 18650 Protected Button-Top or KeepPower 18650
  • (Optional) Illumicore Crystal
  • 22awg Wire
  • Soldering Kit

You can find a design guide for hilt design here. The design guide references CAD and prepping for 3D print, which is if you were printing hilt parts that fit around a metal pipe like what the club does.

You can also read the wiring guide here.
