Description
I made a second design that I like better: https://www.printables.com/model/433088-printed-solid-filament-guide-mark2. Keeping this design posted on the off chance someone references it for some reason.
Before and after videos of the project (sound on) https://imgur.com/a/Bv0gyx9.
I have a printed solid case. The filament rubs on the hole into the case and makes an awful noise. I fixed this by adding PTFE tube (with couplers) to guide the filament to fix the noise.
Use a soldering iron to push the threaded insert into place, then attach a coupler to each end of the insert. Cut tube to desired length and insert into each coupler.
I printed in PETG as I want a higher temp resistance.
If your holes on the corners don't line up perfectly with your case you can widen them with a drill bit. After insertion with soldering iron I had some extra plastic that needed to be trimmed with a knife and flush cut pliers.
When cutting the interior PTFE tube make note of the height of your printer at max z.the
This is the specific enclosure: https://www.printedsolid.com/collections/next-generation-enclosures/products/next-gen-safety-enclosure-for-prusa-style-printers the “Next Gen Safety Enclosure for Prusa Style Printers”. I am using the Next Gen Adjustable Spool Roller Kit as well.
