Description

I wanted a similar tool to measure the radius of bows on existing solids of unknown design. Something like https://www.printables.com/model/137696-radius-gauge-1-20-mm could be helpful, but I needed it for bows with a larger radius. The idea was to create small 45-degree slices of circles with different radii. 45 degrees seemed a reasonable compromise between precise measurement and usability for shorter bows. So I created a set of such slices for convex and concave bows in a range up to 21cm and a case to fit them in when not used. The very small ones are probably not really useful for actual measurement but I added them nevertheless. For smaller bows, you could still use the design quoted above or other similar ones. Note that the slices are very tight in the case. For me, this is good since that way they never fall out of the case by accident. If this is a problem for you you might want to scale the case slightly.

The slices are marked with a number representing their radius in cm. Those with two numbers have an inner radius of the smaller number and an outer radius of the larger number. Those with only one number in the middle have an inner radius 0.5cm smaller than the number and an outer radius 0.5cm larger than the number. For instance, the bow measured in the picture has a radius of about (within measurement tolerances) 3.5cm.

I printed everything with PETG though the material likely shouldn't matter a lot. Also, my choice of 0.2mm layer height likely does not really matter a lot. The slices themselves are thin enough to make infill irrelevant, for the casing I used 20% infill but again this likely doesn't matter a lot.
