Description

I often find my fridge door slightly open and wanted a way to see that easily.

I designed this magnet to be as simple as possible so that anybody can build it with no tools required, only a common LED, a CR2032 battery, a couple of magnets and some super glue.

Instructions:
  1. All the parts are designed for fridges that open on the left, if yours opens on the right just mirror all the parts accordingly.
  2. Print part1 and part2 and one of the arms (I have included a version with holes and one without if you want to customize it).
  3. After printing bend the led pins so that they touch both poles of the battery. Make sure they don't extend above the recess. Check the image for reference.
  4. Place the battery and test the contacts, a bit of tweaking might be necessay.
  5. Once you are happy with the result join the two parts together (you might need a bit of glue if the fit is not tight enough) and attach the assembly to your fridge door with double sided tape (I used magnets but it doesn't work very well).
  6. Place magnets into the arm and stick it to the fridge in a suitable position.
Updates:
  • Increased pin lenght for increased strenght
  • Added another part2 version with space for the magnets far from the battery. Just print this one if you don't want to use double sided tape. I added both a version with holes and one without.
