Reolink RLC-410-5MP ring mount

The Reolink RLC-410-5MP ring mount can be used as an alternative way of mounting your camera when used in tight spaces. This camera model by default comes with a wall mount that is attached to the rear of the camera body and this makes the camera setup quite long. I used this camera inside a custom designed bird house and tried to reduce the amount of space required by the camera. 

Slide the ring mount onto the body and use a bolt and screw to keep it on place. The original camera mount has a screw thread that can be screwed into the ring mount thread. This way you can still utilize the original mount, but it's just installed on a different place.

You can remove the original mount from the Reolink camera by unscrewing the little allen screw on the side of the mount thread. Then you can unscrew the mount carefully trying not to damage the cable which is going through the mount. You can then open the camera body by unscrewing the three philips head screws on the rear of the body, which is required to detach the cable from the circuit board. After detaching the cable, carefully flattened the cables on the connector and aligned the connector with the cable direction so you can pull it out of the camera and through the original camera mount. Then I pushed the cable back into the camera, re-attached it to the circuit board and closed the camera body. I used hotglue around the cable and the thread to seal the original camera mount and prevent moist and insects from going inside. 

Note: If you want to use the camera inside a bird house, you need to alter the focus of the camera. You can do this by screwing the lens more into the camera. The lens was ‘locked’ in place with some blue glue, but I was able to easily break the lock with a stanley knife. The bird house had a living area of 12x12cm. I used a ruler inside the bird house to check the focus sharpess while making adjustments to the lens. I think I was able to get about 8cm in acceptable focus sharpness, so in my case the most rear and front were out of focus.
