OBSOLETE - Please check my updated model here: https://www.printables.com/model/355610-improved-magnetic-holder-for-pcacrylic-panles
I created some holders to be used with my RatRig VCore-3 Printer (check out here: https://github.com/Contrasens/VCore3-400-OpenFront).
This is just one holder, and it has to be “repeated” several times along each side of each panel which needs to be magnetically mounted to the printer (or to the enclosure frame).
My printer uses 30x30mm aluminum extrusions and I will use 4mm thick Poly-carbonate panels. My magnetic holder is designed also under the assumption that I will use some 5x1mm foam tape between the extrusion and the actual PC panel (https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B07DK6YZWV/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1).
The holes that need to be cut in the panel are 20.50 x 8 mm and have corners rounded with a radius of 2mm (to safely match the CNC machine cutting process).
Here are the other parts I use for each of the magnetic holders (multiply by the amount of holders):
According to the seller's webpage, each magnet should hold about 1.3kg of force. If this is not enough, I designed a variant holding 2 of these magnets. The magnet(s) are supposed to be pressed-fit inside the magnet holder.
Please be aware I have not tested this solution on a final panel, just using a small piece of 4mm PC - see a movie here: https://youtube.com/shorts/yGP3fkOf9LM?feature=share
Version 2: The V2 files contain small holes that help with the removal of the magnets out of the printed part.
This model was inspired (but is not a remix!) by MFBS magnetic panels available here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5176411
