Description
There are a lot of different opinions about the use of Igus bearings in 3D printers.
However, I have decided to use my Prusa MK3S/+ with the only logical combination of fixed and loose bearings and have had very good experiences with it so far!
This mixture has the significant advantage over the exclusive use of fixed bearings that it does not come to the often mentioned problems of tilting of the bearings which was cited as a common reason against the use of Igus bearings.
Of course, many factors play a role in successful use. Used bearing rods, tolerances when printing the bearing holders and last but not least the exact and correct installation.
If you take all this into account and feel like experimenting a little, you will be rewarded with a much quieter printer and less maintenance.👍🏻

When mounting the bearings, make sure that they fit exactly into the correct bearing holder. (Booth sides of one holder are marked!) The rubber rings of the loose bearing must be in the correct position (see picture above)!
If the printout is accurate, the screws can be tightened firmly without the bearings jamming when the shafts are inserted.
The shafts must run smoothly in the bearings after insertion!
The loose bearing must have a little play under light pressure after insertion in the shaft
(see video for how it should be). After assembling the Y-axis, the carriage must run smoothly. If this is the case, you'r done . 👍🏻
