Whoop Fitness Band Battery Pack Charging Base Dock

Whoop fitness uses an unusual battery solution to charge the Whoop fitness band. Rather than directly charge the watch itself, you charge an external battery and put in on the watch to recharge the watch battery.

This works well,but it means you have loose battery packs lying on your desk and when you charge them they tend to get flipped over by the micro-usb cable and you cannot see the charging status light.

This project is my attempt at a solution. A small, desktop charging dock for the Whoop battery.

You will need to buy the following parts to complete this project:

Two M3x8mm hex screws are required to attach the base plate.

StarTech.com 3 ft / 91cm Micro USB Cable - A to Left Angle Micro B - USB Type A - 90 Degree Micro-USB Type B (M) - Black (UUSBHAUB3LA)

Once you print out the back plate, the base and the base plate you can assemble everything.

DO NOT GLUE THE BACK PLATE IN PLACE WITHOUT READING THIS FIRST

1. Insert the usb cable into the base and then secure it with the base plate and two screws.
2. Insert the back plate into the slot. It will be slightly loose. This is fine for now and resolved later.
3. Place the Whoop battery in the dock and insert the usb cable into the battery. Make sure the battery slides down along the back plate as you insert the usb cable.
4. At this point the battery has forced the back plate into the correct angle so that you can just slide the battery on to the dock and the usb connector will line up with the battery automatically. Carefully glue the back plate in place. BE CAREFUL NOT TO GLUE THE BATTERY IN PLACE.
5. Wait for the glue to dry and the dock is ready to use.
