Zel's Simple Coasters

These coasters are 100mm in diameter for the drink area and 106 overall.  All are made off the same 3mf file and changed by choosing a different infill pattern and percentage for the the center section.

The idea of creating a plastic coaster created a problem in my mind, how to create one that was easy to print for the 3D printing novice, yet would still allow for the condensation from your frosty beverage, to drain away from the surface of the coaster.  I tried several designs and they were all too complicated to print.  Then on the last day I landed on this, using simple modifiers in Prusa Slicer we are able to to take a relatively simple 3D model and create a surprising number of variations of the coaster all with the ability to collect the condensate, while looking great.

I've included Gcode for the Prusa Mk3 and Mini for all versions, it's set for PLA and has a color change that causes the printer to pause and ask you to change the filament.

3MF file:

The included 3mf file has everything you need to set the infill patern for the center section.  On the right hand side of the screen you will see a “generic cylinder, this is the modifier for the center section. Click on it to expand and you will see, ”infill; layers and perimeters, click on this and directly below a set of options will appear that will give you the option to change the infill pattern and infill percentage, use this to change the appearance of the center section.

Once sliced you can put in a color change at 1mm to get the same effect that the coasters in the pictures have.

The coaster holders.

Coaster Holder flat holds the coasters in a standard flat on top of each other format and is a fairly quick print.

Coaster Holder vertical holds the coasters in a vertical format to show them off a bit and make them easier to get to the one that you desire.

Coaster holder Slanted holds the coasters at an angle to better show off your printing skills and make it easy to choose the perfect one for your beverage. 

The coaster Holders are all set at .2 layer height and PLA, use the 3mf files if you would like to change the parameters.
