Description

The Carriage Mounted Dial Indicator Holder for the Qidi X-Max is an excellent design by humebeam. It can be used with the original carriage by Qidi. Only the cover, ribbon cable, two screws for the extruder and the extruder itself have to be removed.

But Qidi changed the design of the carriage slightly and it was not possible to correctly screw the holder in place. A cylinder of material (10mm diameter, 3mm height) had to be removed on the bottom of the screw holes.

The original design was also not perfect for my Ruthex M3x5.7 threaded inserts. They were now changed to a straight pipe with a diameter of 4.1mm - which ends up as 4.0mm on the final print. If it still doesn't fit your requirements then please open up the FreeCAD document (compatible with realthunder's fork from 2022-04-30) and open the sketch under qidi-xmax-extruder-carriage-dial-indicator-holder-threaded-inserts -> helper objects -> screw_in_block -> Pad screw_in_block -> sk screw_in_block. It is called Constraint32 at the moment.

Notes:

 

I would recommend to make sure that only overhangs stepper than 50 degree use support material. Otherwise it becomes unnecessary hard to remove the support material. Using support interface can also help to get better print results for the overhangs.
