Artisan Case for 1U and 6.25U Keycaps

A 3D printable Artisan Case for a single 1U Keycap or 6.25U Spacebar. It uses an optional Tenting Base and can be used with an Acrylic Cover for added protection. It also features a conservative keycap stem holder to keep your Artisan Keycap in place without any wear on the stem.

And yes it will fit SA profile keycaps. There's also an optional inlay to slightly elevate any Cherry profile keycaps for a better display.

Models

There are two version of the Artisan Case.

Version 1: Single Piece

This model consists of two parts. The Case where the Artisan Keycap resides and an optional Tenting Base.

Version 2: Top & Bottom Piece

This model consists of three parts. The Case is split into two parts and is designed to be assembled using 4x magnets (cylindrical shaped 3x3mm). This allows you to glue an Acrylic cover to the case while still being able to take the Artisan out.

Cherry Profile Keycaps

For Cherry Profile Keycaps (e.g. JellyKey Cherry R1 Profile Artisan) you can print an inlay for the Artisan Case so the Cherry Keycap sits higher in the case.

Further options

On top of the two version provided you also have the following choice:

• Use a variation that allows for 2mm thick Acrylic or
  use a variation that allows for 3mm thick Acrylic

Acrylic

You have the option to use a 2-3mm thick Acrylic cover for added protection. A .DXF file is provided below. The file does not have any kerfs or tolerances added. If you don't want a friction fit then a tolerance of 0.10mm on all sides is recommended.

Instructions

1. Download the version of the model that is right for you:
   - 1U or 6.25U
   - Single Piece Version or Two Piece Version
   - Usage with 2mm or 3mm Acrylic Cover
    
2. Then Print the following parts:
   - Single Piece Case or Top Case & Bottom Case
   - Tenting Base (optional)
   - Cherry Profile Inlay (optional for Cherry Profile Artisan Keycaps)
    
3. If you chose to print Version 2 with a top and bottom piece then insert your 3x3mm magnets into the designated holes. Use pliers or any other flat hard surface to push them in. They should fit snuggly and usually don't need to be glued.
   Important: Mind the orientation of the magnets
    
4. Optional: If you have the means to get your hands on cut acrylic sheet you can use the .DXF files to cut a cover. Note: that there's no kerf or tolerances added. Choose the correct file:
   - 1U (normal bezel)
   - 1U (thin bezel)
   - 6.25U (only available with thin bezel)
    

Specifications

The Artisan Case has the following dimension

• 1U Case: Length x Width x Height = 30.05 x 30.05 x 22.60 mm
• 1U Case (thin bezel): Length x Width x Height = 28.05 x 28.05 x 22.60 mm
• 6.25U Case: Length x Width x Height = 128 x 28.05 x 19.60 mm

and can support following artisan keycaps

• 1U Keycaps w/ a max height of 16.60 mm (e.g. supports R1 SP-SA Profile)
• 6.25U Spacebars w/ a Centered Stem & max height of 13.60 mm

Print Settings

• Infill: 15-20% Gyroid
• Perimeters: 2-3
• Layer height: 0.2mm
• Seam: Rear or Near (check the preview in your slicer to see what looks better)
• Supports: none

Inspiration

The design takes inspiration from kostka with some changes done for FDM printing as well as to allow for more flexiblity by being able to switch the tenting base. It also features a conservative stem holder that keeps your Artisan Keycap in place without any wear. 

In addition the model has been updated with a version to support 6.25U spacebar, so you can show of your artisan spacebars.
