Description

This is a cleaning stand for Hayward (or compatible e.g. Blueworks) T-cell salt water pool chlorinators. The way it works is you screw it on one side of your T-cell so that it stands straight up and seals the bottom from leaks. Then you pour in some white vinegar (or your chosen muriatic acid/water combination though I don't recommend that as it can damage the cell!) and wait while it dissolves any lime/calcium build-up inside the cell.

Tip: You can use a nylon zip tie to (safely) break off chunks of calcium from the "fins" of the chlorinator.

Note: Hayward makes a ~$23 cleaning stand but this stand only costs ~$1.50 (in filament). Also, it prints faster than Amazon can ship to you! =)

I've included the .scad files I used to create this stand so you can customize it to your heart's delight. Just note that the threads don't match exactly because Hayward intentionally made the threads on the T-cell proprietary. They're good enough for a stand but maybe not good enough for anything under pressure.

Print instructions

Print the stand in your filament of choice (anything will do) at 0.15mm layer height (so the threads will get enough resolution) and print the o-ring in flexible TPU (whatever layer height you want). I printed the o-ring with 15% infill but you might be able to get away with less.

Shove the o-ring in the bottom of the stand and it's ready to go! If it leaks you most likely haven't screwed it on tight enough or your TPU material isn't making a good-enough seal (might need a drop of oil).

Tip: I recommend "3D honeycomb" infill since it does a pretty good job at minimizing overhangs when printing something like this (the first flat circle can have some internal drooping into the infill on that first layer).

15% infill on the stand isprobably good enough but if you want to be extra safe I'd go with 20-25%.
