Feedback: This clamp worked great for many PLA prints; but, as of late I've been doing prints which required 100c bed temps. The clamps held for at least a dozen hour+ prints but then failed. 100c is the glass temp of both PETG and ABS so as of this moment I do not recommend using these if printing with 100c bed temps.

This is a clamp that holds a glass bed in place on the build plate. I designed it to work with the HEVO bed design, although it can work with others.

There is three different sizes of clamps with jaw gaps of 12, 15, and 18 mm.

*Material to complete for each clamp: + M3 x 16 mm screw + M3 hex nut + M4 x 20 mm screw + M4 hex nut

There is quite a bit of mechanical advantage when using this clamp. Watch the hold down and glass when tightening to judge the amount of clamp pressure required.

Position the clamps so that the nozzle, probe, fan duct, etc. does not come into contact.

I am currently using these clamps to hold the glass build plate on a hypercube printer. They are printed in PETG and I'm still evaluating how they hold up to use with the heated bed. The things that may change is the printing material and thickness of the hold down.

Notes:

Print the size "Bed Hold Down" that you require and then one Jaw and and one Knob for each clamp.

Print as oriented in stl.

I printed the Hold Downs at 100%, and the Jaws and knobs at 50%

The Hold Down and Jaw is printed in PETG, the knob is printed in PLA

Custom supports that need to be removed:

  • Bed Hold Down
    • Flange support structure
    • Thin support membrane that supports the countersink hole for the hinge screw.
  • Knob
    • Thin support membrane to support the countersink hole.

Post-Printing

Do not over-tighten the hinge screw. (Lightly snug is good enough.) If the screw is too tight the hinge will not be able to rotate.

Tighten the M4 screw and nut in the knob very tight. I planned on adding a drop of glue, to prevent the screw from backing out of the knob, but found it to be unnecessary.
