Description

All the other hydroponics net cups on thingiverse that I've tried have issues printing or are extremely flimsy.

The last thing we want is our tomatoes drowning the moment it puts on some fruit weight right?

So here is my attempt at keeping it beefy and using up all the almost empty filament spools I have kicking around the house.

Print Settings

Printer:

EMT8 1.3skr 2208

Rafts:

No

Supports:

Yes

Resolution:

.5

Infill:

no

Filament:

3dsolutech PLA

blue

Notes:

Prints well for me at 0.5mm nozzle diameter. (btw you can change this and not change your nozzle, just remember to change it back afterward)

Comes out to about 12g and 4m of filament.

Measured at 1.930 inches just under the lip. I haven't tested this against a 2" hole saw yet.

I'm still a newbie at hydroponics and I shouldn't have potted up into these water bottles, but I wanted to see what the roots did and sort of experiment. I left 2 in one container and 1 in the other. I've had to fill up the one twice a day, you can see it got a little crispy when I skipped the other morning water. These will be going in 5 gallon buckets next.

Update. I just added a larger netcup. I needed to get the roots lower into the water in the 5 gallon bucket, and give the base some heft. This pot needs roughly a 4.5" hole. The outside lip extends to just over 5" and the pot is 4" deep. This allows for easily 2-3 cups of hydroton but the net cup is strong enough to hold rocks.

3/29 added bevel to print upright and not need supports.

5/17 added big 4.5" netcup.
