Description

These are a few stands for lenses, mirrors, LEDs and cards to help children play around with optical properties by freely moving them around seeing what they can do.

Great for also calculating focal length of your 25 and 27mm lenses.

Speaking of lenses, where does one acquire one? I'm sure there are others, but here's a good place to order lenses for about 10 or 15 bucks a pair:

Have fun!

November 23rd, 2015 update: Added the 1" Prism Stand. One side of the equilateral base of the prism should be 1"

Custom Section

Project: Optics Lab

Objectives: Familiarization with refraction, reflection, spectra and other optical phenomena.
Audiences: From 4th grade and up through college

Preparation: Source some lenses, index cards, film negatives (or Viewmaster reels) and 1" mirrors.

Steps: Using this system, one can easily line up lenses, cards and mirrors to follow many online courses that are available on the web.

Results: Students will see first-hand how to calculate focal length, how to break up light into its individual spectra and light as a particle/wavelength.
