VW Analog Tachometer Replacement Gauge

After finishing the digital version of the clock replacement in my Karmann Ghia last week:

I feel that the brightness (which I can't adjust on the digital version) was just too blindingly brilliant (albeit cool) for night driving. Yesteday I recieved an analog tachometer from ebay which only cost about 11 bucks. I spent all day today updating the digital tach design for the new analog tachometer.

You're not going to like this, but In order for the analog tach to fit, I had to make some 'adjustments' to my original equipment involving a hack saw. It was a lot of work, but at the end of the day, I'm quite satisfied with my now-working tachometer mounted in my original 1973 Karmann Ghia clock gauge. Oh, the joy of seeing my RPMs any time I want (en lieu of a dead clock)!

For the fuel gauge parts, you'll need to file down the face until it has zero conflict with the fuel gauge needle. This is VERY important!!

Also, to remove the fuel gauge from the housing - as an alternative to making your own tool (as pictured above), use a pair of pliers and a vice clamp and GENTLY remove that annoying nut (replace it with an ordinary hex-nut or something). Be mindful of the fragile needle at all times.

One other thing, the extracted Dragon Gauge tachbarely snaps into place. But, you must first remove the front two screws holding its white bezel in place while you maneuver it into position. Reinstall the two little black screws once you have it in.
