Description
This is pretty niche, but it's one of those ‘I made it so may as well share it’ models. These lights are pretty nice but the caps on each end of the metal tube are fairly flimsy.
One took a hard knock and this cap cracked badly (so I repaired it with epoxy, but it eventually disintegrated under the stress and beating of more regular use.
This replacement is designed to use as much of the original parts as possible. It might fit similar models of light tube from this manufacturer, but I haven't looked so don't know. It should be possible to modify the design to fix the other end cap with the USB-C port, but that one was not damaged and I didn't want to mess with it any more (these get booked out quite often.)
In the example pictured, I printed a first version of this part in PLA for the repair in use, as that was what I had at the time. Also it is a just little too tall to match the original but I have now changed the part height to match more closely.
Keep the two small mounting screws, and also break out the brass ¼" UNC thread insert as it can be used again. The two different variations are for including either the original hexagonal insert, or the more common round & splined variety.
The files provided here are ideally printed in a fairly tough material such as PETG, ABS or PC - as the damage to the original part was some kind of impact.
