Description
THE Accessory, for your camera accessories, that keeps your camera gear organized and all bits and pieces at your fingertips.
My initial idea was, to store a few parts on the back of my small “camera cabinet” door. This changed to, a place that holds all my favorite gear and my spare parts. In addition to the Storage Cheese Plate, that you can download here, you can find several mounts in my Storage Cheese Plate collection, or you can simply click the link in my List of Attachments further down.
I designed for myself a cheese plate with SD card, hex key and cold shoe slots, and beside the typical 1/4" and 3/8" threads, also M5 threads for GoPro-mount screws.
Everybody has different types and counts of camera accessories. Thus, I created a 3mf file of the cheese plate, that allows you to customize the plate to your needs. All cavities, like e.g., an SD card slot, can be removed, duplicated, or rearranged in the PrusaSlicer. If you want to remove single cavities, like e.g., a specific thread, you need to right-click the group of threads and click on <Split>.
You might notice in the gcode or 3mf files that I added a modifier that eliminates the top layers, to save filament and reduce the printig time. The print is strong enough without them, if the cheese plate is mounted to a wall. However, if you want those top layers at the back of your cheese plate, you could just delete that modifier.
The currently available sizes are designed to max out the print bed of the Prusa i3 MK3S+ (250x210mm) or the Prusa MINI+ (180x180mm). Other form factors might follow.
The horizontal and vertical hole spacing is 18mm.
The cheese plate is 8mm thick. If you want a thinner cheese plate, you can simply cut or scale the “base-plate” in the slicer.
The holes for mounting the cheese plate to a wall are 5.5mm wide.
The hex key slots are designed for 2, 2.5, 3, 4 and 5mm hex keys.
I suggest printing the cheese plate with PLA and a layer height of 0.2mm. I printed several test parts of the threads and slots until I was happy with the play being not too tight or too loose. I hope that you get a flawless print too.
One corner of my print warped a little bit (the corner with the hex key slots), making the micro-SD card slots in its proximity too tight. Heating up and shaping the affected slots resolved that issue. The same rework principle (heating and shaping) goes for SD card slots that are too wide.
If you print with different settings or a different filament, I highly recommend printing test parts, before you start your final >15h print job.
