Admit it. How many times have you needed to use your teeth to yank the cap off your Sharpie when you've only had one hand free? Save on dental work (and potentially nasty tastes) by replacing the cap with this knurled screw cap that's easy to operate with one hand. It seals tightly against the shoulder of the pen tip to keep it from drying out.

Print both the base and cap in the orientations provided. I used PLA, but any filament should work. The thread may be tight when first assembled, but work it back & forth a few times and it should loosen up. A tiny dot of any sort of oil, grease, or vaseline will make the thread silky smooth.

The base press presses very snugly onto the body of a Sharpie fine point pen. The easiest way to get it all the way on is thread the cap onto the base one full turn and press the whole thing onto the end of the pen. It'll be kind of snug for the first few millimeters, but then if you press a little harder, it'll slide a little further with an even tighter fit.

When you tighten the cap, there is an edge on the inside of the cap that seals up against the shoulder of the pen tip. If you continue to tighten the cap it will start pulling the base back off the pen, which is how you can get it off to mount it on another Sharpie.

Happy scribbling!
