Description
My daughter has discovered the one-season Rocketeer sequel series on Disney+, and wants to be Kit Secord for Halloween. Unfortunately, with a live action series back in pre-production, Disney pulled the plug on the show and there don't seem to be commercially available costumes.
I took drokle's Cliff Secord helmet from Thingiverse (itself a re-working of davypenn's non-wearable sculpt) and crudely hacked the face out in TinkerCAD. I also added a similarly crude lip to the forehead area. Because the fin had extended below the highest point of the eye holes, I reconnected the model there and slightly shortened the front half of the fin.
To fit an 8 year old's noggin, I had just enough room to print the main helmet in one piece on my Voxelab Aquila, upside down, at 85.5% scale. I glued the fin halves together with super glue, used a bit more glue and a 3D pen to attach it, then quickly sanded and painted everything. Mine came out pretty well for the intended audience, and it's definitely structurally sound, but I'm no professional. A better prop-maker could likely get really good results with this model. Similarly, a better 3D modeler could definitely create a cleaner STL, but this one does have the advantage of existing. :-)
