Description

A chute that fits over a Traeger Ironwood 650 pellet door.

Like so many Traeger owners, I quickly got tired of watching pellets fly everywehere when emptying the bin.

I've seen a few different chute ideas. The one I liked the best (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5084680) was too big to fit my Prusa i3 MK3. So I decided to make my own.

This chute hangs on the door hinge so the opened door keeps it in place. Also, there are magnets in the frame that help hold it in place while opening the door.

Here's a short video demonstration: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JZhTPXSOYJw

My print used a 0.8mm nozzel with 0.4mm layers. It took four hours, and as you can see in the photos, it is a bit rough.

My print had support all the way across the "top bar" that rides on the hinge. Removing that support was an unpleasant, brutal experience. The attached print file intentionally creates a few small bridges to hopfully make for easier removal.

The attached print file is setup for 0.4mm nozzel with 0.2mm layers. Hopefully this will make a nicer print, and I'm assuming the 0.4mm nozzel is more common. Also, it will pause at layer 32 so you can drop in six 12x6x3mm super magnets (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09L47HV7M).

Update: 24 May 2023

By request, I've uploaded the FreeCAD source file. Please don't criticize too harshly, I had only been doing 3D modeling for about 6 months at the time I made this.

Notes:

If you slice the model yourself and you want to install magnets, do not use automatic support generation. It will fill in the magnet cavities. Paint supports only under the "top bar" that rides on the hinge. Don't forget to pause the print at the layer that will cover the magnets so you can install them.
