Description

As there was the contest for new container designs I decided not to do the #1000 modular organizer container with fancy lid design, which can be bought for a fraction of the filament costs in a discount store, but to utilize the vase mode feature to create a filament saving container while offering a maximum storage volume. This 1 liter container can be printed at less than 40g filament when using a 0.4mm nozzle and at around 55g when using a 0.6mm nozzle (suggested nozzel for better stability).

Print Setting:

  • Just print the container and the lid in vase mode with 2 bottom layers. Also take care if you have a setting like the “Wall Line Width” and “Outer Wall Insert” in Cura which are changing the the width of the single outer wall when printing in vase mode.
  • You might want to change the lid scale up by 1% or 2% depending on your nozzle diameter and slicing setting to allow for a tight fit without breaking the wall.

My settings for slicing with CURA:

0.4mm nozzle:

  • lid scale 100% => tight fit
  • lid scale 101% => loose fit (but still not falling off, when upside down)

0.6mm nozzle:

  • lid scale 101% => tight fit
  • lid scale 102%  => loose fit (but still not falling off, when upside down)

I recommend the 0.6mm nozzle since the extra 0.2mm wall strength allows also to store heavier items without the risk of breaking the wall.

CAD:
I also included the FreeCAD model if you want to tweak the design for yourself.
