Description
The grip collar on my craft knife perished and disintegrated so I designed a replacement and printed it in TPU. The knife was originally purchased from Hobbycraft in the UK, but I don't remember the brand.
I printed with a 0.25mm nozzle, 3mm inside & 3mm outside brim, 0.27mm extrusion width, 0.15mm layer height, 3 bottom horizontal shells, 3 top horizontal shells, 3 vertical shells, no crossing perimeters, no retraction, in about 20 minutes. Print narrow end down on the build plate.
This will print without doing this, but I also post-processed the gcode file from Prusaslicer with Formerlurker's Arcwelder (https://github.com/FormerLurker/ArcWelderLib/releases), which very quickly replaces the linear approximations to curves, made by Prusaslicer using G1 commands, with G2 or G3 arc commands. This produces a faster, smoother, quieter print from a smaller gcode file, and is supported by my Duet2 WiFi controller board and should be supported on Prusa printers too.
Filament: Esun eTPU 95A hardness
When fitted, the wider end of the grip is intended to be at the blade end of the knife.
The knife handle (where the grip fits) is 9.6mm diameter and 30.5mm long. The collar slides on with some resistance, so…
