Lightweight Paint Stand - Vallejo, Army Painter, GW.

March 26, 2024
Description
My version of the vase mode paint organizers, this simple paint stand can be mostly printed in vase mode. The containers are 28mm minus wall thickness, and should fit most model airbrush paints.
Set vase mode with a wall thickness of at least 0.6mm, bottom thickness to 0.
Orient the round flat faces to be flush with the plate.
Made in Alibre CAD
If you wish to make your own version from scratch, 1) simply create several cylinders offset in a stairstep pattern along a 45° plane. 2) add a ‘vertical’ connecting wall on the XY plane from the top cylinder to the bottom one to link them together in one vase-mode outline. 3) Array the shape to the desired length and connect the repeating shapes with a wall along the ‘horizontal’ axis of the XY plane. 4) add a 45° cut along the cylinders, creating a single continuous face. If it was done right, most of the model should print in vase mode when resting along the cut plane, with only the upper parts of the feet printing as islands.
You can make all sorts of organizers following the steps above. They print fast and use less material. They are fairly flexible however, so are best for small objects like paint bottles and art supplies. My shelves are finally orderly ♥
[UPDATE] I have made an improved version with many premade variations, included as part of a (paid) organizer bundle on Cults 3D.
