Required:

  • 2 x M2.5 x 3H x 3.5W knurled nuts for Ribbon Bracket
  • 2 x M2 x 3H x 3.5W knurled nuts for CR Touch. (originally M3 but not enough room for them).

I make use of the 5015 cooling and 4020 Noctua modifications in:

The above youtube modifications have a range of 4020, 4015, and various other fan options for the hotend cooler fan to be moved to the RHS with improvements on the cooling fan.

That modification left a large gap on the LHS, when using the original model I had remixed this from. Hence, I made this remixed version to move the probe even closer. I utilized the gap and reduce the X-offset further. I managed to reduce it down to a 33mm or 30mm option.

The 33mm offset version leaves about 3.2mm gap from the heating block cooling heatsink thus. If you are more comfortable, then the 30mm offset (which leaves about 0.2 gap to the heatsink) is also available.

I've opted for these options because I've found it increasingly easier to get consistent bed leveling, meshes, and z-offsets when the CR-Touch is closer to the hotend.

Please note that knurl nuts are used and soldered in. M2.5 knurl nuts for the Ribbon bracket and M2 for the CR Touch. I have chosen the M2 to allow for small adjustments for the Y-axis.

I recommend printing with PETG or any more heat-resistant material to prevent heat warping.
The one in the image was printed on Klipper firmware S1 Pro. Be careful with the RIbbon  Support Bracket and not overtighten or else it can crack it.

The example pictured is the 33mm offset option printed at 0.2mm height, 0.4mm nozzle. It was tight to fit the 4x M3 bolts holding the extruder into the gantry carriage.
I believe if the model was printed in 0.16mm height, the fit would be less tight or printed with “Slice Tolerance = Exclusive” under Ultimaker Cura.
