Vevor Mini Lathe DRO mounting kit (YS-2260A).
The "Apron.STL" that I used for modelling the parts is from https://www.thingiverse.com/tonycstech
On a small lathe it is very hard to find an acceptable mounting spot for the x-axis scale. I did decide to go for mounting it on the head stock side of the cross slide.
Disadvantages mounting scale on tail stock side of cross slide:
- the gib screws can no longer be adjusted (without removing the scale) unless quite some distance is kept from the cross slide
- the tail stock cannot move as close to workpiece anymore
- the cross slide can no longer be locked
Disadvantages mounting scale on head side of cross slide:
- more chance that chips will conterminate the scale
- toolholder cannot be moved as close to the head stock anymore
Printed parts needed to mount the Z axis DRO:
- DRO_bracketZ.stl (1x)
- DRO_plate.stl (2x)
Printed parts needed to mount the X axis DRO:
- DRO_bracketX.stl (2x)
- DRO_bracketX_Plate.stl (1x)
- DRO_bracketX_CoverBracket.stl (1x)
Recommended materials:
Remarks:
- in order to drill/tap the M4 screw holes in the apron I used the drill helpers: DRO_bracketX_DrillHelper.stl and DRO_bracketX_DrillHelper_Mirrored.stl
- I did use 150 mm and 600 mm travel length glass scales (minimum required travel lengths for my lathe are 120mm and 560mm)
- I did move the splash plate 40 mm backwards to create more space for movement of the DRO cables. I have created "DRO_bracketZ_MotorHoleCover.stl" to cover the hole to the motor compartment. I have created "DRO_bracketZ_SplashBracketT.stl" to mount the splash plate to the lathe.
