Description
Bezel for tidy access to SD card and USB socket on SKR 1.4.
Simply cut a single easy rectangular hole in the side of the printer control box and it hides any rough edges behind the bezel. Much more simple that trying to cut accurate holes for the USB and SD.
I made this for my conversion of my CR10 and my CR10s, but should work on any panel with a SKR1.4 board behind it.
Make a rectangular hole, just over 18mm x 41mm in size for the bezel to fit in. The SKR board should be set over 6mm back from the front of the panel, allowing the protruding leading edge of the SD socket to poke though the bezel. Basically the SKR board should abut the back of the bezel.
I used my own mounting adapter for the board inside, see https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4518052 for that design which allows the board to be mounted on existing bosses in the base.
The hole position can be found using the drawing in the files and sticking masking tape down the inside, marking the position of the USB socket, then moving the tape to the outside to mark the cutting position. I cut the hole using a Dremel cutting disk, it is a simple rectangular hole making it easier to make that cutting individual holes for SD and USB respectively. Lower the cutting disk into the middle of each side of the rectangle, moving it to the corners, it cuts real easy, leaving a neat hole.
Printed with support on with the back of the bezel on the plate.
Cutting template for use with CR10 or CR10S using the original USB socket as a reference (only for use with my adapter board https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4518052)
2021-03-13 V2 Added to give 1mm extra slot width to the SD slot to allow the socket to properly fit.
