Filament Cube

September 4, 2022
Description
This cube has some features of a calibration cube which i usually use for tuning in every new filament. I guess one could save some material if there is no need for additional "filament-cards" to be printed, since u already have this cube anyway. It also shows material properties (like shinyness, color and texture) much better than a card.
Due to its cubyness, it is easy to stack, store and to be admired catching dust on your shelf. If one does not prefer a visible display, the cube feels perfectly fine to sit around with its companions deep down in a drawer, never seeing any daylight again.
The top notches resemble a 1-byte large number. They are intended to be colored by sharpie like in binary. Trough this, one is able to track up to 256 cubes in a spread sheet containing the cubes information (like material and print settings). Therefore there is no need for big surfaces containing this information on the cube it self. Marking a print by sharpie alone, makes the color often creep between layer lines. This is not nice to be seen but prevented by the notches on this cube.
Even thoug it prints reasonably fast within 20-25 minutes, one can save some additional time and even more material) by scaling down the cube to 50%
It works just fine with 0.4 nozzles at least.
Happy printing!
