Strong Handle

A fairly strong, simple and unintentionally classic looking handle.

I needed a functional and strong handle for a project of mine. Originally designed for a 2020-aluminium frame (M5x20), but of course it can be used on other materials.

The bolt/screw-hole is relative long in comparison to other handles. This is to replace plastic with steel to make it stronger on those parts that endure the heaviest forces (normal use). Of course the strength also depends on the print settings (see below).

It comes in two sizes, 100 mm width with 70 mm grip and a 125 width with 95 mm grip for bigger hands.

A STP-file is also included so you can customize it to your own wishes. The handle is split in half in the STP, so you can easily adjust the width by sliding one half.

Print it on the side as in the STL-files. I am using 4 or 5 perimeters, bottom- and top-layers for a strong result. I also used "adaptive layering" in Slic3r (50%) which varies the layer-thickness where needed. Very nice setting in Slic3r.

If you don't have very good bed adhesion, use a brim. the first layer is thin due to the fillet /curves.
