Description
While organizing my workshop and drawers, I realized that I need a box to house all the little storage boxes that I'm printing. I wanted something that is grid-based, so that I can put various combinations of boxes into it. Somewhat rugged, but not too much, and water-tightness wasn't required. I did want the boxes to be precise/tight enough so that I can transport things like small screws without worrying about them getting mixed up. I ended up designing a parametric grid-based box with clips and I'm quite happy with the results, so I decided to share.
This grid is designed to precisely fit the "Stackable Storage/Assortment Boxes" from LuckyResistor. I'm using full-height and half-height boxes from that collection, and they are excellent. I highly recommend buying the full set.
The grid goes up to 4x3, as that is the largest box that will fit on the bed my Prusa i3 MK3S+. If you go for one of the larger sizes, watch your environment temperatures and drafts, as warping could be a problem.
The clip is designed to be rather tight, for two reasons: one, I do want it to clip securely in transport, and two, it wears in and becomes a bit looser after using it several times. If it's still too tight, that's easily corrected with a file or sandpaper.
You will need six M3x20 machine screws (ISO4762) and six M3 hex nuts to assemble this box.
UPDATE: added 4x4 size, please be aware that this will not fit on a Prusa MK3 bed.
