Description
This car camera mount was created to securely attach a car camera to the back of a rearview mirror to replace the suction cup mount included with most car cams.
A camera attachment mount for slide style mounts is included and an alternative screw attached, pivot style mount is included to accommodate other camera mounting varieties. Print the mirror clip and then print the camera mounting style needed and glue it to the frame. Epoxy or cyanoacrylate work well.
The anchor bolt may need to be longer for some vehicle mirror styles. Also, gluing a small piece of rubber or a small circle of TPU to the bolt face can provide a little additional friction to the bolt movement which can help it stay securely in place.
The material used will need to be heat resistant. I used Protopasta HTPLA and annealed it by putting the parts in an oven set for 210F (100C) for 30 minutes. The unit has survived 110F days in the Phoenix areas without issues. ABS/ASA or PETG should also work fine but I never tried them.
A STEP file is included to permit combining the clip with the desired mount and printing it as one unit if preferred or to resize for variations in rearview mirror dimensions.
