Use case

I decided to design this part after I got my new budget action cam (Akaso EK7000Pro). Before, I had worked with the significantly more expensive original GoPro when filming from my motorbike. Now I needed a camera for a motorcycle off-road training that I took. I simply did not want to risk the GoPro in that harsh environment. At first sight, I was not so happy with the EK7000Pro video quality. There clearly is a reason why the GoPro cameras are so expensive. After I had completed this design, I compared the EK7000Pro side-by-side with a Yi 4K plus that I had for a few years.  In post production I stitched both the two videos together on one screen. There it turned out that the EK7000Pro is in fact not so bad for it's price. It had clearly beaten the Yi 4k +.

Printing instructions

I recommend to print this part from PETG, as it is a bit more flexible than PLA. It might work well with PLA too, please let me know if you tried it.

To get a strong part, I recommend 4 perimeters and an infill of 25% or more.

The part can be printed without support, but that results in not so nice round surfaces on the convex action cam mount points. With supports “on build plate only” you get a nicer part and these tiny supports are very easy to remove.

Assembly instructions

All that you need besides the printed parts are two M5 nuts. For a quick usage of this part, just lay in the M5 nuts and tighten the screws to hold the cameras tight. If you want to use this part repeatedly, I propose to glue in the nuts with superglue (use a glue that works for your material, on PLA that is not an issue, on PETG you need to try your glue brand first). Make sure not to mess up the tread with the glue.

Please like it if you like it

Your satisfaction is my reward. Please like this design if you find it useful and/or simply nice.
