Description
This design was created over the last autumn. The weather was cold and crap so I decided to design a tile based system for basic gears and movements. There was no real overall plan, just add another tile somewhere when I felt like it, sometimes moving them around or changing them - something to interest the kids. Except the DC motor and electronics all other bits are printed. Where required, parts have been glued with CA (super glue). All bits have been designed using FreeCAD on Ubuntu, and design files and source code is included.
All elements are original, except planetary bearing design, which comes from Emmett Lalish. I was also inspired by http://507movements.com/.
To power it I used an old Maxon motor (as used in RoboCup 1999) with 100 CPT encoder and an RP2040 running Python to control power to the DC motor so it run at the selected speed, regardless of the friction.
My plan is to add to it, maybe next autumn. There is really no instructions as it just keeps evolving. BTW, the part numbers kind of show the order in which they were developed.
