Keychain Scissor Sheath - EDC - TSA compliant

This handy little print will enable you to carry just the scissors from a small pocketknife on your keychain. It's a perfect add to your everyday carry (EDC). I got mine from a knife similar to this. My knife blade got damaged, the tweezers and toothpick got lost and I really only used the scissors anyway. I took the knife apart to salvage the scissors and made this sheath to keep them safe in my pocket. 

Print Directions | Print standing up on end. I used PLA but any material should be good. No supports required. If you have problems with the bed adhesion I'd recommend a little bit of hairspray. I print two at a time spaced out a little bit to allow the small sections to cool well near the top. If your printer is dialed in well you may be able to print just one. They take about a gram of material each so an extra is basically free.

Assembly | Pry off the side plates of your donor pocketknife.

Press or hammer out the pin out with a small punch to release the scissors. 

Remove the small split ring from the case and put it through the hole in the scissors. 

Then put it on your key chain. 

Use | Simply push the scissors into the sheath and the snap action of the scissor level will snap into the retainer and keep the sheath in place. To remove, pinch the scissor and pull. Use for your cutting needs. You can also open the scissors all the way and use one side as a knife to slit tape on packages and such. 

TSA Compliance | Small pocketknives are regularly confiscated by airport TSA security in the US. These small, sheathed scissors meet their requirements for carrying scissors onboard an aircraft (less than 4" from pivot to point and sheathed). Never be without a sharp pocket tool on a trip again.
